WHat We Do

About Tablelands Wildlife Rescue

Founded in 2013, Tablelands Wildlife Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife throughout the beautiful Atherton Tablelands.

Our mission is to give every animal a second chance. We work tirelessly to provide immediate assistance, source expert veterinary care when required, and a safe environment for every creature that comes into our care. Our ultimate goal is always to return a healthy animal back to its natural home in the wild.

24/7 Emergency Hotline

Our team is on call around the clock to provide advice and coordinate rescues. You can call us on 07 4091 7767.

On-the-Ground Rescue

We respond to calls to safely retrieve injured or orphaned animals.

In-Home Rehabilitation

Our dedicated volunteer carers provide hands-on care, from feeding tiny joeys to mending a bird’s broken wing.

Training and Mentoring

We provide essential training and ongoing mentorship to new members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to properly care for wildlife.

Community Education

We actively work to educate the public on wildlife-friendly practices to help prevent injuries and promote coexistence.

Our Committee And Our Impact

Tablelands Wildlife Rescue is guided by a small, passionate committee of volunteers. This group is responsible for the overall management of the organisation, including fundraising, administration, member support, and ensuring we meet all our legal and ethical obligations. Their dedication ensures our members and carers have the resources and support they need to continue their vital work.

Since 2013, our volunteers have been instrumental in saving the lives of countless native animals. On average we receive over 3000 calls per year via our hotline. By focusing on rescue, rehabilitation, and release, we have made a significant positive impact on our local ecosystem. While our work is challenging, the sight of a healthy animal returning to the wild makes every effort worthwhile.
